    Description

Early 19th Century Transfer Printed Motto Chamber Pot
    34 cm handle to handle
    15 cm tall
    23.5 cm diameter bowl
This is a period piece not a reproduction
Super piece with transfer motto's and a face and transfer scenes on the inner and outer bowls
Very risque and crude but typical of the period, which would be late Georgian or very early Victorian
The body is red earthenware which can be seen in the exposed edge areas of rub
The glaze looks a delft like glaze
Others similar to this piece have been identifies as Sunderland, it may be but does not quite have the lustre of Sunderland
Nice blue and black transfer and the verses are clear if a little crude, with two handles as early pots had
This is a rare piece and a similar piece is in the science museum
The condition for age is very good - both handles are secure and in place and just some rubs and general age patina and one small tight hairline in the base
I am very happy to accept no quibble returns on this piece
